What a day! The bride and groom booked me last minute to photograph their wedding due to their previous photographer backing out, and I could not of been happier (or more honored). Once I heard their engagement story… let me be honest, I was floored to see what excitement and love this day would bring. Katie is a teacher, and I cannot think of a more fitting proposal for two self-proclaimed “math nerds.” Late one afternoon after all of Katie’s students had left, Joseph came by and wrote a math problem on the white board. Don’t ask me how, because math is not my thing, but the answer was his proposal. Adorable, perfection, oh-so-lovely, need I say more?
Their wedding day was all of those aforementioned things, plus lots of sunflowers and navy – a perfect summer combo. Katie and Joseph got married on a warm September day at Ashley Hall in downtown Charleston. The venue was special to the family as Joseph’s parents got married in the same location many years before. The whole bridal party had some good laughs during the pre-wedding photos, as the bride and groom cannot touch prior the ceremony. As I expected, this did not take away whatsoever from their first look, as the tears came down with them only inches away from each other.
The ceremony was a traditional orthodox Jewish ceremony, which was a joy to watch. The reception followed in a high ceilinged room on the campus, where guests danced the Hora, ate delicious Kosher food, and jumped rope with tablecloths tied together. The night ended with the bride and groom being whisked away in a Pedi cab. Enjoy some of my favorites from their wedding!
