Brittany and Alex first saw each other at an event for The Citadel in Charleston, but they did not get the chance to get to know each other until a few months later. The following day after running into each other Alex took Brittany on a fishing trip, and as she puts it they have been inseparable ever since. It is very evident that this couple loves all things outdoors, with hunting, fishing, boating, and walking their dogs, on their list of favorite activities.
Personal touches abounded in their riverside wedding, which was on a perfect day in October. The beautiful wood cocktail tables overlooking the river were handmade by the groom’s side of the family. Much to Brittany’s surprise, her favorite childhood stuffed animal graced a chair in the front row! As a good luck tradition, the bride and groom buried a bottle of Woodford Reserve at the Island House 30 days prior to their ceremony. During one of their few stolen moments alone, Alex dug it up with his bride looking on with excitement.
All the wedding guests got to witness a quintessential Charleston sunset over the Stono River, and then proceeded to dance the night away under a star filled sky. The couple’s exit was touching, as the bride and groom drove away in a 1953 Chevy truck (the vintage truck is owned by the groom and his father). What a great way to end a heartwarming wedding day at The Island House!
