Mary and Charlie

The Story

The backdrop for this couple’s story started with a chance meeting at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Sparked by copied homework, the couple found love and marriage.

Like many couples, Mary and Charlie met in college at Cornell University their freshman year in 2010. The two met at orientation the first week of school and happened to live on the same floor. What a coincidence! The bride claims that Charlie may have “borrowed” her homework as an excuse to hang out with her the whole fall semester (How nice of her!), but they didn’t start dating until February of 2011.  From there, romance blossomed and Charlie popped the question and the two started planning their magnificent Charleston wedding.

The First Look Wedding Photography

Mary and Charlie planned their first look photos to be set among the historic College of Charleston campus. If first look photos aren’t familiar to you, a first look wedding photography session takes place a few hours before the ceremony where bride and groom see each other for the first time on their wedding day. Usually, the first look is pre-arranged with us and takes place away from family and friends to capture that moment just for the couple.

The Perfect Charleston Wedding Venue

The couple chose to say ‘I do’ on February 23, 2019 in the heart of Historical Charleston at the Francis Marion. For years, the Francis Marion Hotel has been the at the center of Charleston weddings and social events in in the Holy City. The tradition of elegance and grandeur of the Francis Marion provided the perfect setting for an unforgettable wedding. With exquisite touches like antique chandeliers, 20-foot ceilings, monumental windows, and marble accented fireplaces, the Francis Marion Hotel is a wedding photographer’s dream. Mary’s uncle did the honor of marrying the couple before their closest loved ones.

The Wedding Photography

Among family and friends in the most beautiful of settings, we got to capture this incredible couple’s moments throughout the day. Every detail was thought of in this Cuban/Tropical glam themed wedding. Their wedding featured touches of emerald green thoughout from the invitations and bridesmaids dresses to the palm leaf center pieces and bouquets. Mary’s Hayley Paige dress was sensational featuring touches of lace and bits of sheer fabric. The groom wore white with just a touch of emerald green to complement the wedding theme. In a moment I won’t soon forget, the bride and groom danced for the first time to the Mary’s sister singing “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran.

From Cuban inspired details like hats and cigars to beautiful palm leaves throughout, Mary and Charlie’s Charleston Wedding was this photographer’s dream.
