Kristin and Dustin

Wedding Date: 9/22/19

The Story

Dustin and I met each other through a mutual friend while we were both living in NYC and have been together ever since our first date! After two years of dating, we were on vacation in the Maldives – we had just wrapped up an afternoon at the spa and afterwards while sipping on a glass of champagne he got down on one knee. I was in heaven!

Following our engagement, we left our hectic lives in NYC behind and came to Charleston to start this next chapter together. After being here for two years, we felt it was the right time to buy a home. We were so determined to stay downtown but came across Gippy Plantation and knew immediately that it was the one. Something about this historic home just felt so right, and the thought of raising a family here one day makes us both so excited.

Once we started to really get organized with our wedding, it sort of became a no brainer that we would get married at our home. We began to prioritize our renovation and really focused on getting the gardens in shape for our big day. We knew we wanted a very intimate family-only wedding and the idea of getting married in our own garden seemed so romantic to us. Our wedding ended up being exactly what we dreamed of: laid back, intimate and in the comfort of our own home. I wore my grandmother’s lace from her wedding veil – Alena Fede customized it for me.
